The Comeback Birth Story : Second Time’s a Charm

Healing is possible. And there’s always the possibility that next time will be different. Marie Horrigan takes #AtomicMoms mom friends Deanna Russo, Bridget Moloney-Sinclair, and host Ellie Knaus on a totally wild, completely unexpected, and super empowering #birth journey that has changed the way she looks at parenting and the world at large. What makes this story extra special is how vastly different it is from her first traumatic birth experience. Atomic Moms believes it’s imperative we share the good times and the difficult ones, the traumatic moments and the triumphant ones too. And we are honored Marie shared both of her birth experiences on this episode.

Thank you for this story! My first birth was pretty traumatic, I had the natural birth I wanted but had such bad tearing I had to go into surgery, which lead to pain, fear and lots of body image issues (vaginal reconstruction is no joke!). I knew I wanted kids close together so I went to counseling and looked at the birth fear. Only 18 months later my son was born after only 2 hrs labor and the most peaceful delivery and I was able to be there for all the things I missed the first time. It was wonderful to hear another similar story and I was nodding the whole time. So go ahead and have that second kid! Thanks for all the stories, I love this podcast.

    Love this one Ellie!
My second (unmedicated) was very healing for my PTSD from my first (Cascade of intervention).
My 3rd was born on 9/11 at home in water 🙂

    Way to go Marie!!

Oh and I skydive professionally. Moms skydive too.
